Poetry - my silent dreams

Forever Starts Today

Staring at her own reflection
Wanting to look her best
Today is her day
And no one can take it away

The snow laying heavy on the ground
Covering almost anything in sight
A silent smile appears
Hoping this will take away her fears

Dark hair soon covering her shoulders
Perfectly framing her beautiful face
Brown eyes searching
Wondering what the future will bring

Yet another quick glance in the mirror
Then reaching for her favourite teddy
Thoughts drifting away
Hoping this will be the perfect day

Thinking back, her memories are many
Unfortunately not all are very nice
A tear is showing
Others are better off not knowing

Wiping away the tear with a tissue
Thinking of all that has been great
Maybe her friends
Realising she does have quite a few

Sharing laughs, anger, tears and stories
The friendships have only grown stronger
Lasting forever
Whoever said that was very clever

Time passing by even faster each day
A child's time seems to never go by
As everyone learn
To her childhood she can never return

She is no longer the little curious child
A woman with goals she has become
Strength from within
It will make her dreams come true and win

Not knowing what the future will bring her
Or what challenges she may have to face
Staring at the wall
Telling herself that she will survive it all

She wants to make the best of her future
Slowly laying back down on her bed
Closing her eyes
Knowing that her best friend would say
Forever starts today...
