Poetry - my silent dreams

New Beginnings

She looked at herself in the mirror
Evidently she would finally see her again
Could she see herself in her, maybe
Obviously they had to look a bit the same
Never had she thought this would happen
Dreams do come true, she knew that now

Couldn't keep her daughter
Had to give her away
Adoption was the solution
Never would she forget that day
Couldn't let go now, she wouldn't have to
Endless waiting, coming to an end

Tears flowing, look how pretty she is
Overwhelming emotions, could this be real

Dreaming of things to do together
Oh, her heart stopped when she whispered 'mom'

'I lost my other parents, Mom, in an accident
Their last wish was for me to stay with you'

Right then time stood still, not knowing what to say
It wasn't fair, but her daughter was going to stay
Given a second chance in life
Hopes of a new beginning, a fresh start
This time she'd certainly do it right
